Volunteers
{{ :snaaparcherytoby.jpg?175x209}} SNAAP relies heavily on volunteers for all of its services and without volunteers many of our events would not be able to run as we would not be able to provide the support and care that the individual children need. We therefore thank you for taking the time to look at this page and showing an interest in supporting us to make lives of disabled children and their families and easier and happier. We have tried to answer any questions you may have about volunteering with us below to ensure your experience with us is enjoyable. If you feel there is something which is not covered below, please contact Natalie. [[http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/group.php?gid=136348609723724|{{:facebook_logo.png?50%|}}]] **Keep up to date with volunteer opportunities with our Facebook page.** ====== Register online! ====== [[sign_up|Click to fill out our short form and sign up to volunteering with SNAAP]] ~~TOC~~ =======What work are volunteers expected to carry outໃ ======= We require volunteers to support SNAAP staff by ensuring the children and young people are safe at all times and are all able to participate in the activities provided as best they can. This support can be given by helping to prepare activities/events, supervising activities, providing one to one support for those that need it, but most importantly ensure everybody has a good time. The roles will differ depending on the event and the activities provided. =======What volunteer opportunities are available with SNAAPໃ======= ====Term time opportunities==== Sports Club (Canterbury), Youth Club (Whitstable) After school club (Herne Bay) ====School holiday activities==== We organise various activities during all school holidays, such as, family fun sessions, youth sessions and days out. Being a charity it is a continual struggle to gain funds to enable us to continue our services. Having enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers coming up with new and fun ways to gain more funds would ensure that SNAAP are able to provide as many opportunities as possible for families to access a wide range of activities. =====Where are these opportunities basedໃ ===== SNAAP work in a variety of venues in Canterbury, Whitstable, and Herne Bay. If you do not attend without letting us know, this may heavily effect the event/activity. ====== Do SNAAP take on young volunteersໃ ====== Yes, SNAAP have had some very dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers as young as 13 years old. We will work very closely with these individuals to ensure they are comfortable and confident in the settings they assist with. ====== What is the recruitment processໃ ====== SNAAP requires volunteers to complete a registration form, medical consent form and agreement form. All of these can be downloaded below. These then need to be sent to Natalie at the SNAAP office at Windchimes. Once these forms have been received, Natalie will contact you to arrange a session for you to come along, meet the staff and children and get a feel for the group and get started with us. ====== Do volunteers have to have a CRB before they volunteerໃ ====== If you attend CCCU or UKC, CRB’s can be gained at no cost to you through your volunteer coordinator (details below). If you have a current CRB (within the last year) Natalie will ask for some details from you. If you do not have a CRB, Natalie can arrange for you to get one, at no cost to you. You will be able to start with us prior to us receiving the CRB as you will be supervised by SNAAP staff at all times. It will also be your responsibility to make sure you are not left along with children at any time during our sessions. ====== Do SNAAP pay expensesໃ ====== Yes, a volunteer will not be expected to be out of pocket by attending SNAAP events, for example, travelling to a club or event. All out of pocket expenses incurred during their duties will be reimbursed. Please ask Natalie for an expenses form and keep any tickets . ====== Is there a uniform for volunteersໃ ====== No. Currently there is not a uniform for volunteers.
